It’s taken a while and it all seems like a blur, but I can officially say that the website’s up, I’m writing our first blog post, and our beautiful showroom is finally open. Since the days of operating out of our industrial bay I can safely say that we’ve come a long way. It looks like I’ve also become a poet! We’ve only been at our location in Calgary’s design district for a few months, but our showroom already feels like home to us. The idea and concept of bringing a world class product offering and showroom to the Calgary and Alberta market has been brewing in my mind for almost a decade now, so it’s surreal to see it actually come to life.
It wasn’t always an easy road getting here, either. Construction, like most projects, was delayed, issues like faulty electrical and plumbing seemed to crop up on a daily basis and when we finally finished building out the space, the flood waters of the bow came a little bit too close for comfort to our showroom doors. No power for ten days and sleeping on the sofa in our living room display with a Calgary Cannons mini baseball bat as our security system wasn’t exactly an ideal beginning for our new chapter. But I can say with a big smile on my face, and a beer in hand, that we made it through and are here to stay.
We inaugurated our space with a pretty kick-ass event featuring Remy Martin Cognac. Those guys know what they’re doing! Even the most avid Pinot Gris drinkers were knocking these tasty concoctions back like my daughter inhales Reese’s Pieces at halloween. Believe me when I say, both have consequences. Regardless, fun was had by all, and we look forward to our next soiree… coming soon!
So I’ve decided as I finish this that I’m really not that great of a writer, so you’ll get to hear periodically from different members of our team (aside from Kobe). This way you’ll get a fresh perspective of the different aspects of what we do, and I can minimize the public scrutiny of my poor writing abilities. In the mean time, enjoy one of my favorite cocktails (details below). I’ve had a few too many of these on more than one occasion on some of my “research” trips to Italy, and trust me when I say, they creep up on you. Proceed cautiously!
